Can The Squint In The Eyes Of A Child Be Reversed?

my nephew is 2years 3 months old. we recently noticed that he squints his eyes sometimes. Showed him to a eye specialist yesterday. She said its -1.5 power for both his eyes and that the squint is also related to that. She suggested specs and a tonic for him. I want to ask if this is recoverable as he is too young?
