two weeks ago i had non protected sex with a sexual worker. she is 18. no hiv or std symptoms so far. i have had two fourth generation hiv tests already, both none reactive. should i be worried? any particular symptoms i should be aware of? im scared....
Anybody can remain asymptomatic even with HIV and STD. So unprotected exposure has its own risk for both HIV/STD. If your 4th generation HIV test had remained nonreactive 4 weeks after the high risk activity, it means that you are free from HIV1 and if the test nonreactive even after 12 weeks, then you are totally free from both HIV 1&2. as most of the test covers the antigen test for HIV1 and antibody test for both HIV 1&2. You had not mentioned the timings of your tests. To rule out STD consult your doctor and have a thorough genital examination and investigations as per their guidance. DR S.Murugan
