Can Using Soap Cause Painful, Swollen And Red Penis?
Hullo. My son is 5 years old and uncircumcised. Within the last day he has complained of his penis hurting. It appears slightly swollen, almost as if he has an erection, and it is a tiny bit red. The only thing that I have done differently in the last few days is give him a bubble bath instead of his usual shower. (during that bath he emptied his shampoo and body wash into the tub while he was playing..) He also said it tickled when he urinated and it looked slightly better afterwards. Could this be the result of soap getting under the skin and causing irritation? Or Could this possibly be a UTI?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. After going through the description, it appears that your son could be having 'phimosis'. It is narrowing of the opening of the foreskin so that it cannot be retracted. This results in swelling of the glans and penis. It would be better you could consult a Surgeon at the earliest and examined clinically. In case it is unable to be maneuvered, he may need to undergo circumcision. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
