Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My adult son has had a fever going on three weeks now. He is on a second antibiotic and continues to spike a temperature at night. Only other symptoms is headache with the fever and fatigue. Could it just be a virus and that's why antibiotics are not getting rid of it?
Your work up is necessary to search cause as you have three week presentation ,so viral less likely.. -Auscultation and if needed chest x ray -ASO titre -Blood culture -CRP estimation -Physical examination and liverspleen palpation -Peripheral smear examination etc...
According to cause further specific treatment can be guided ...
Meanwhile complete the course of antibiotic ..
Advise : Consult physician for examination and further work up
Take care
