Can Wart Like Growth Be Caused Due To HPV On Anal Opening?

I am a 65 years old man. About 20 years ago, I developed a small growth (like a tiny little pinky finger) about one inch above my anus. It did not hurt but it did catch my attention and I had it removed by a surgeon. He said it was caused by HPV. Last year, I was having regular unprotected anal sex with someone who was and is HIV negative. He was unaware if he had ever been exposed to HPV. I began to have some soreness on one end of my anus and can feel, with my finger, a wart-like growth there. Is it likely that I have have retained the virus in my body all these years and it resurfaced last year? Is there any way to rid my body of the virus?

hi,
Welcome To HCM and Thanks For Asking Your Query here

HPV is most common Sexually transmitted infection and it may recur as you are having unprotected anal sex

However Your Medical history it suggestive of a anal skin tag , or external Hemorrhoid which are most commonly caused by chronic constipation or diarrhea but vigorous anal intercourse without proper lubrication may lead to a tear in anal mucosa (anal fissure) which may lead to a anal skin tag

skin tag however does not bleed a lot but if their location is such that they get rubbed easily they may bleed

for many people skin tag are harmless and doesn't hurt and require no treatment unless you want them to remove for aesthetic purpose

i would strongly suggest you to see a Anorectal surgeon to get it examine properly to rule out whether it is a skin tag or external hemorrhoid or any genital wart caused by HPV

i hope you will get well soon
Thanks Again
