Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Water Be Used For Cleaning Silver Dressings At The Wound Site?
I am to change my bandage daily after a bood clot was removed from the right side of my right foot 3 days ago. I had dropped a heavy iPad on it in an open loafer from out of my arms while standing and leaning over 9 days earlier. The wound center changed the silver paper pack and re wrapped the gauze 1 day ago. Now my husband will do this daily until my recheck in 6 more days. Should I wash it with water before or after he removes the silver packing?
Water is not a good option. You can use 0.9% normal saline for washing your wound. This is a sterile solution best used for washing wound. Water is not always a good option.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
