Can We Plan Pregnancy Once My Wife Starts Taking Tamoxifen For Stage 1 Breast Cancer ?
My wife has been diagonised with Stage 1 breast cancer . Her surgery is over. She has been recommended 4 cycles of TC chemotherapy , followed by 5 weeks of radiation and then 5 yrs of Tamoxifen. She is just 26 now and we don t have a baby yet. Can pregnancy be planned once she starts tamoxifen. How should it be planned and are there risks?

Ideally doctors do not recommend to plan pregnancy when on tamoxifen and til two months after stopping because animal studies indicate there is a risk to fetus of tumorigenesis.So kindly consult your treating doctor before planning apregnancy after starting on tamoxifen.

Hello.Welcome.I have doubts regarding pregnancy during the treatment with tamoxifen.Tamoxifen acts as potent estrogen antagonist in Breast Ca cells.It also causes vomitings,vaginal discharge menstrual irregularities,endometrial thickening etc.Your oncologist and Gynec will tell you the best about it.Good luck.
