Can Working In Water Result In Red And Itchy Bumps Growing On Fingers And Hand?

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me answer a question. For 2 straight years in the fast my mom had to wash dishes and kitchenware every morning till night, with different liquids and powders. Every winter season my mom has little red bumps growing on her fingers/hand, saying they are itchy. I checked on alot of websites but can not seem to understand what is causing that to happen. So i was wondering if you could probably help me out, and see if you know the cause.

Hi,
I can understand your concern for the red and itchy bumps growing on fingers and hands of your mother.

After reading the query, in my opinion it appears to be Allergic contact dermatitis which comes under the category of hand eczema. There is sudden redness and itching on contact with a particular contact allergen.

It can be due to soaps and detergents which are causing the hypersensitivity reaction in hands. Avoid all these types of ingredients form her daily schedule.

I suggest you to apply medium potency steroid cream application because are best effective in these condition. I would have opted for either mometasone or Fluticasone or cortisone cream.

Do not pinch, pop or scratch or even touch the area unnecessarily as it can cause aggravation of the rash.

Take care.
