Can you tell me what this means? Findings: Approximately 8 to 10 subcentimeter areas of T2 and FLAIR hyperintensity notedmajority centered within the bifrontal subcortical white matter without classicjuxtacortical involvement. There is a single 6 mm lesion seen along the margin of thecorpus callosum however on the left near the cingulate callosal junction. Noinfratentorial areas of white matter signal abnormality identified. No pathologicenhancement. No mass effect, shift or hydrocephalus. No diffusion restriction.Impression: Scattered foci of nonspecific white matter signal abnormality. One of theselesions however is identified at the callosal cingulate junction which from all the whitematter lesions is the most suspicious for demyelinating disease though remainsnonspecific.
There are small areas in your brain which show a particular imaging characteristic on MRI T2 and FLAIR sequences. While most are in the frontal area on both sides, there is a particular one which is in the corpus callosum, an important area in the brain which helps nerve fibers cross from one side to the other. This area is showing a patter that might be consistent with loss of myelination. It is very small in size at present and needs to be matched with the neurological clinical examination findings. If there is persisting symptoms for more than a few days and increasing progressively for months then a repeat MRI scan is necessary after 6 months to a year.
