Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

Usually extraction socket heals within 7-8 days.

Since you had undergone traumatic extraction,2-3 weeks time period is required to heal the extraction socket.

Take complete course of ciprofloxacin along with analgesics.

Swish with lukewarm saline frequently.

Avoid anxiety and stress.

Irrigate the socket with betadine solution.

Take rest and maintain oral hygiene well.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Pain and swelling are common after surgical extractions, you dont worry about the symptoms as they will subside after sometimes.

The swelling will subside in a period of 10-15 days.
Take a course of antibiotics and analgesice consulting your Dentist.
At home take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.

Maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hope this helps out,

Regards.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hi,

Two or three days minimum on up to five to seven days, providing no complications develop. The local trauma tears tissues and such, and that's all part of the process. The damage caused elicits the collection of fluids between disrupted tissue spaces - where it usually isn't present to any degree. There's a fair amount of this, and that's the swelling. As the membranes reform and the body repairs itself, the extra fluid is reabsorbed and the swelling goes down. The pain will disappear as well.

Pain should "ramp down" over a few days, and any "big flare ups" in the hurt department need to be looked at to insure there isn't any infection. If you are taking something to help with infection prevention, follow the recommendations closely. Good luck.
