Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Neck

Helo Dr, This is a patient with an indication of swelling in the right side of the neck for the past 2 weeks. Actually, he had tooth decay, and advised to remove the decayed tooth by a dentist. We have proceeded as per the dentist advise and removed the tooth. But, even after the tooth removal, swelling is still there along with pain. Kindly advice. Thanks in advance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a swollen lymph node due to the tooth decay. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation. If the swelling continues, you can also do an ultrasound of the neck for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
