Casting Has Been Done On Broken Ulnar Bone. Cast Can Be Removed Only After X-ray Report
My son broke his ulnar bone. We go back to orthopaedic dr. next week. The cast will have been on for 4 weeks at that time - they plan to do an x-ray to see if cast can come off. If he is able to get cast off, when he probably be able to return to basketball - he is 13 years old and plays on school basketball team.
Hi there. Usually a childs bone unites in around 4 to 6 weeks. At this stage it is more important to mobilize his elbow and shoulder with support to forearm in the forrm of forearm brace. As for his basketball playing, I would advise it after 6 months from injury after complete bone strength has been achieved. Good luck.
