Hello, I have had ringing in my right ear for nearly 2 months now, doc said it was a blocked euthsatian tube and fluid was behind ear. if I cup my hand over my ear sounds become and tap on my hand (strange I know) it makes a very strange echo, the blocked ear clicks when I swallow and some times it doesn t click at all? is this normal with fluid behind ear? and how long does this take to heal ? many thanks
according to your findings you must be having serous otitis media i.e. middle ear effusion.this may lead to ringing in ear.you should start with valsalva manoeuvre( pinch your nose and gently blow your mouth against closed glottis).this exercise you should do ten to 15 times in a day.start steam inhalation thrice a day with vapocaps. eat chewing gums. you can use decongestant nose drops(xylometazoline) for a week .you should not let it progress as it may lead to hearing loss. get a x ray nasopharynx done to see any mass blocking Eustachian tube.also get a check up done with ent specialist to rule out a deviated nasal septum.if there is fluid you will need proper antibiotics, decongestants and mucolytic.
