Changed From Eltroxin To Armour Meds, Burning Cheeks. Thyroxine T4 Taken Previously. Allergic Reaction?
Hi, I have changed from eltroxin to armour thyroid meds as I have been taking thyroxin t4 alone for 7yrs and kept deteriorating even though bloods looked balanced, I believe I have autoimmune thyroiditis and wasn't converting t4 into t3 so switched to armour but since I've upped dose my face is burning cheeks and real red, is this a sign I am over treated or is it just initial, is it allergic reaction? I've heard taking progesterone can reduce it? Please help, thanks
I assume following things in your question. Correct me if I am worng.
1. Kept detriorating - means - gaining wt and cold intoerance, Menorhagia ( females) , low resting pulse rate etc.
2. No improvement in symptoms even with T4 and TSH are normal
Answer :
If T4 doesnt improve your symptoms , you should try with T4 + T3.
If you are having redness in cheeks - you have to consult a dermatologist who can differentiate between drug side effects / some other autoimmune disease.
Stop the medication till you meet them .
