Chest X-ray Showed Koch's Infiltrations In Upper Zone. What Does It Mean?
Hi doctor my I have done all the tests like blood reports and everything shows normal how ever the x ray of the chest says active Koch's infiltrations are seen in the left upper zone. Where is rest of the heart aorta ribs and all show no abnormality. What could be the problem. Is it tb? Contagious? How much time should the recovery take with proper medication?
Hello Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Koch's infiltration in left upper zone means active tubercular lesion in the left upper lobe . Diagnosis can be confirmed by sputum examination , if present . Montox s test , blood for E S R , although now a days doctor say this is non-specific but I have noted that if E S R is around 50 mm /hour ,it is sure significant . So in my opinion get in blood also. Now answer of your question. Yes , this is T B . It is contagious , Recovery is very simple and treatment is from 6 - 9 month depending upon the doctor and patient's compliance . One thing I want to tell you don't change doctor and don't change medicine and take drugs as prescribed your treating doctor. Good luck. Dr. HET
