Dear Dr, Greetings. A recent chest X-ray of my wife mentions bronchovascular prominence (perihilar and lower zones) , cardiac shadow is within normal limits , costo-phrenic angles are clear and bony thoracic cage is unremarkable . What does this mean? Kindly note that she has asthma and is on FORMONIDE 400 ( budesonide 400 mcg, formoterol 6 mcg). Kindly let me know is this something serious? She is 36 years old. With best regards Santanu Bhadra
Hi,
Prominent broncho vascular marking is a common finding in asthmatics. More important thing is how is she symptomatically? Is there a drop in her peak flow rates? has her symptoms increased? If no then be rest assured that there is nothing serious. You need to continue the medications and get it titrated at routine intervals (atleast 3 monthly) with a Pulmonologist/ Chest physician.
