You need to get operated for the hiatal
hernia as early as possible if fit, if symptoms are unbearable, with GERD.
(you haven't mentioned age).
Persistent
acid reflux (more in large & paraesophageal types) may lead to strictur formation or even Barrett's
esophagus & this may progress into malignancy (cancer). This information is not to make you afraid but to prevent the complications.
Elevate the head end of your bed and avoid lying down directly after meals until definitive treatment is rendered.
If the condition has been brought on by
stress, stress reduction techniques may be prescribed, or if
overweight, weight reduction may be indicated.
Till then continue antacids, anti-emetics with your doctor's opinion.
Avoid spicy food, oily food, late night meals.
