Localised tender spots on the chest have been known to occur following trauma ,due to musculoskeletal strain, connective tissue disorders like arthritis or lupus, due to anxiety and stress.Ruling out any lung/cardiac causes of the pain are imperative as also any is other systemic causes of this like GERD/muscle spasm/muscle tear or strain/fascial pain/rib strain. If muscle relaxants, analgesics and physiotherapy do not help, psychosomatic causation of the problem may need to be assessed by a mental health specialist.
