Chewing Ice, Relief In Teeth, Quit Alcohol Recently, Extreme Stress. Related Symptoms?
I ve been chewing ice lately. I ve never in 43 years, I know it s terrible for my teeth , yet I find some weird type of great relief/ sensation when doing so. Almost as if, I was smoking a cigarette, in which I don t smoke . But I crave it now. I have had an extreme amount of stress introduced to me 3 months ago, then soon, came the ice chewing. I ve also quit drinking alcohol, Are they all related?
Unknown cravings and feeling of addiction to things which are not actually addiction forming or are not actually addictive are a sign of Obsessive Compulsive disorder (OCD). These could be due to the extreme stress you underwent. could be Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) induced OCD. You must be able to remember what is that stress situation and approach a psychologist / psychotherapist for treatment before reaching a Psychiatrist. I can help you if you desire so. Deep Breathing technique and meditation could also help. Get well soon.
