Chid With Watery Stools And Acidy Smell. Had Pyloric Stenosis. Is It Connected?
Hi my 2yr old has had very watery stools for last 2 weeks with a very horrible acidy smell to it. Sometimes a bit foamy. It has now been 3 days and he will only eat 2 weetbix for brekky and a milk at night and won t eat a thing for the rest of the day where he is usually a big eater. He had pyloric stenosis at 5 weeks old could this have anything to do with it??
Hi,
Your child seems having gastroenteritis due to a virus.
The mainstay of treatment is to monitor and to maintain hydration.
Give sips of oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte to prevent dehydration.
Probiotics and zinc can be started after consulting the Pediatrician.
At home you can give curd and yogurt as they contains probiotic.
This problem doesn' t have anything to do with pyloric stenosis.
Consult your Pediatrician for further management.
Hope I have answer your query.
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Relax pyroric stenosis is not related with present illness.
Your baby is having diarrhea which is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days.
Most important is to maintain hydration.
Give oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stool, give coconut water.lemonade, boiled potato, curd, buttermilk.
Give lactobaccilus for 2 to 3 days and zinc for 14 days .
In case symptoms persist get your child examined by pediatrician as stool routine and culture is required.
