Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

There are many causes for loose stools like bacteria, viruses, and protozoal organisms.

The mainstay of treatment in diarrhea is to maintain hydration of the child.

I advise you to give sips of ORS to prevent dehydration.

Oral probiotics and zinc will help to decrease loose stools.

Oral zinc especially prevents recurrent episodes of loose stools.

Her weight is low and this should be evaluated for the reason by a pediatrician with examination and tests.

Consult thr pediatrician for further evaluatuion.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Monitor for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
Oral rehydration solution or any other solution containing salt and sugar should be given.
Probiotics and Zinc prescribed by your doctor will be useful.

since the weight gain is not appropriate for her age she needs to be examined by your doctor for further action.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
