Child. History Of Bladder Closure Due To Bladder Exstrophy. Scan Showed Minor Prominence Of Left Renal Collecting System. Explain

Hi my daughter was born with bladder exstrophy 4 years ago. she has had bladder closure done at birth and is however still incontinent. She has recently had a kidney scan suggesting minor prominence of the left renal collecting system. We are not really sure what this means. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Any congenital anomaly may be associated with other minor or major anomalies. The prominence of the left renal collecting system may be an insignificant finding but shall have to be followed up to see if uretero-vesical reflux is causing this in which case appropriate measures shall have to be taken.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter all the best.

Regards,
