Child. Mint Green, Watery, Painful Stools. Not Under Medication, Breastfed. Ideas?

This morning, my two year old daughter started having mint green, thick stools. It obviously causes her pain, as she walks funny and cries after. Over the course of the day, her stools have gotten more watery, but they are still mint green. I'm trying to think of anything she's eaten that could cause the color, but I can't think of anything. She isn't taking any medications, and neither am I (she still breast feeds at nap and bedtime)

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child is having an episode of acute gastroenteritis mostly due to a virus or bacteria.

The mainstay of treatment I s to maintain hydration of the child.

Give sips of ORS like Pedialyte to maintain hydration of the child.

Monitor hydration status by activity, urine output, and skin turgor.

Probiotics like lactobacillus or saccharomyces sachet and zinc can be added to her treatment.

Consult pediatrician for the assessment of the child and for further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
