Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi mi name is Sarah and i have a 9 month old baby. She has been having diarrhea for the past two days and been vomiting for the past 3-4 days .She has no temperature and have been giving her little bit of pedialyte to keep her hydrated. what should i do? or what could it be?
Having diarrhea during this age is pretty common, as child tries to put everything in her mouth and plus the teething. As much as that is a normal thing, we need to take care of the hydration. Please continue ORS as 10ml/kg after every loose stool and add a pediatric probiotic to it. Depending on the country you reside in, you can ask your chemist. Go for the minimal dose.
Children tend to loose more water as compared to adults when they are having loose motion and vomiting, so this something that we need to take care of. If this doesn’t subside within a day or two, my recommendation would be to go and see a pediatrician, as physical examination might be needed for the evaluation and right medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
