My son, almost 5yrs old, sas he has stomach pain (near belly). I had shown to pediatrician and she had prescribed bestozyme syrup. already 3 days doses (5ml morning and 5 ml during night) However still pain (not severe) is there.
before to this he had dry cough and throught infection, dr prescribed clam forte and later azithral to him.
Hi ! Good morning. As the pain is for the last three days, it seems that it is not very severe specially if the child is having normal diet and bowel movements. Respiratory tract infections sometimes can give rise to pain in the abdomen of small children like yours. This is due to the respiratory virus affecting the lymph nodes in the abdomen which could get secondarily infected with bacteria. This condition is known as mesenteric lymphadenitis which at times mimic the symptoms of acute surgical abdomen. If I would be treating him, I will continue with the treatment of respiratory infection as prescribed, and keep him under observation for the abdominal pain. Most of the time the abdominal pain gets relieved by itself in case of mesenteric lymphadenitis. However, if the pain increases, I would refer him for a surgical opinion to a surgical specialist. Also I would consider him for a dose of deworming drug. Thanks and take care.
