Child. Vaginitis. On Sitz Bath And Advil. Advice

My 6 year old has vaginitis (from rubbing hard and concentrated urine) - she has been crying about and we are trying to find something to relieve the pain. We are doing a sitz bath daily, she is sleeping with no underwear, and I gave her advil for the pain. Is there anything we could put in her vaginal area to relieve the irritation?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for placing your query through HCM.
I can appreciate your concerns.
After newborn period & till puberty, girl child can normally have a thin mucoid discharge which is always odorless.
Vaginal discharge that is a different consistency, malodorous, accompanied by blood, pain, itching, redness or burning urination is usually not normal.
If she has any of these please see a doctor to rule out any fungal or bacterial infection.
If it is due to fungal or bacterial infection specific medicines need to be used.
Nonspecific discharge can be due to poor hygiene, bubble bath and soaps or restrictive clothing & such discharge can respond to sitz bath & local hygiene.
Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Best regards.
