After newborn period & till
puberty, girl child can normally have a thin mucoid discharge which is always odorless.
Vaginal discharge that is a different consistency, malodorous, accompanied by blood, pain, itching,
redness or burning urination is usually not normal.
If she has any of these please see a doctor to rule out any fungal or bacterial infection.
If it is due to fungal or bacterial infection specific medicines need to be used.
Nonspecific discharge can be due to poor hygiene, bubble bath and soaps or restrictive clothing & such discharge can respond to sitz bath & local hygiene.
