Child Complaining About Feet Hurting And Feeling Hot. Sugar Levels Normal. Reason For Above Symptoms?
my daughter is nine years old and complains with her feet hurting and being hot at times. i have bought new shoes and etc. tryin to figure it out. I had a friend check her sugar with her meter and it was 117 then she ate an hour later checked it and it dropped to 106. i think this normal range for sugar her age. But what could be causing her feet to hurt. thank you
hello,
before coming to anu particular diagnosis i would like to get answers to some questions like, is it associated with swelling, redness, restriction of movement or any other complaints in the area that pains. if the answer to these is "NO", then we are dealing with a very common complaint in this age group of growing children and is called as "Growing Pain".
this kind of pain occurs mostly in legs in calves, feet , thigh etc.
you don't need any specific treatment for this other than gentle massage, hot compress etc.
but to be more sure about this condition you should get your daughter evaluated by a pediatrician to rule out any other illness. may be your daughter need serum calcium, inorganic phosphate and serum alkaline phosphatase levels to be evaluated. and if needed may be started on some specific treatment if needed.
thanks
amit
