I need more details before I can answer this accurately like-
Has the child been normal so far, no developmental delay and intellectually normal?
If your child is absolute normal prior to this event, we need to rule out any cardiac cause for which, please get an ecg done with long L2 to see QT interval and any arrythmia.
Without looking the EEG trace it is difficult to conclude as high amplitude slow waves could be there in normal sleep as well. Please get ECG done and show this EEG to alteast one more doctor, please get him checked for any focal neurological signs.

If you could send me his video of the episode with EEG, I could give you better opinion.

Theoretically speaking, at this there is a possibility of Doose syndrome (Myoclonic astatic epilepsy), which can be treated by medicine in majority of the cases.

best wishes
