My son aged 13 yrs. had several episodes of fainting with all biological responses like breathing, heart beat, pulse, temperature seems to be zero or nothing at all.
1. Consulted general physician M.D. children specialist, who first treated for germs or worms in the stomach area, later referred to ENT specialist prescribing an antioxidant with no findings.
2. ENT cleared some amount of wax from the both ears and confirmed that the episodes of fainting is not because of ENT problem. (The boy still feeling some itching in the ears)
3. Later Complete Blood Picture with ESR had been taken, and then the General physician confirmed nothing unusual and reason not traced. He then referred to a neuro physician.
4. Neurophysician prescribed on suspicion of Epilepsy; MRI scan, EEG which also came normal. No reason is apparent.
5. Cordiologist consultation also came negative... no reason identified.
Finally, child specialist suggested us to go for psychological counseling, as this may be on account of anxiety or excessive stress.
As the boy is under no or negligible stress from all 360 degree point of view and other conditions. We've decided to go further into analysis of the problem.
Wheezing in breath, frequent and excessive phlegm formation with difficulty in breathing is observed by us, but these symptoms are for some reason ignored by all specialist focusing more on major symptom of fainting episodes.
As a last hope, resorted to alternate therapy like homeopathy, yoga, naturopathy, and finally accupuncture.
Improvement was shown (still reasons are not known to us).
Accupuncture treatment gave relief with the natural extraction of all phlegm almost automatically and breathing was set alright.. and then episodes of fainting disappeared.
Now, (after a period of 1 month) the symptoms of excessive phlegm formation, shallow breathing (though minimial), restlessness slowly started again. We are left with no clue or treatment, as all reports like ECG, EEG, CBP with ESR and consultations coming normal. The boy's general condition is slowly improving and all of sudden, he is feeling nervous strain, excessive sleep, problems due to phlegm.
Past medical conditions:
1. Previously, at the age of 10 treated with excessive dosage of ofloxacin.
2. Met with an accident and due to which his one eye got damaged, diagonised as internal rupture followed cylindrical vision, nerve infection, and now with unresponsive eye with blurred vision in both the eyes.
3. Got operated for Hydrocel at the age of 7 yrs.
Please advice us on the follow-up action, tests to be performed to exclude masking reasons and identify the reason for right diagnosis. Advice on care to be taken in the mean time.
