Child Had Anaphylaxis Reaction To Bactrim. Has A Terrible Infection. WBC Is High. What Are The Findings And Required Treatment?

My friend's disabled son was just life flighted for what the doctor is saying is anaphylaxis reaction to Bactrim. She is not so sure because he has a terrible infection in his hip from a surgery 2 months ago. His WBC is 22,000. She feels it is infection, worried about sepsis. The doctor said the WBC is high because of the anaphylaxis reaction. Your thoughts?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi Dear
Welcome to the HCM.
Possibility of bacterial infection is high.
Immediately there may be leucocytosis after any sensitivity reaction, but if the TLC is high after the reaction has subsided then one should think of some bacterial infection.
Further investigation are to taken to rule out bacterial infections like Urine routine examination, ESR, blood culture etc.
Local examination by the surgeon has got importance to rule out any localized pus collection etc.
Hope the query is answered.
Thanks
