Child Had Head Injury. Swelling, No Fever. Applied Ice Pack. Should I Take Her To The Doctor?
Hi there, My 2 year old daughter slipped on the wet bathroom floor and bumped the back of her head about 3.5hrs ago. It is swollen and has decreased in size. No redness, confussion, vomitting etc. She has eaten her cereal and lunch fine and no fever . Have been placing ice pack on....should I take her to a doctor? how long does it take to go down???Thank you
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
as mentioned by you your daughter has fallen and there is hematoma formation on back.you have also mentioned that swelling is now decreasing in size.she is active as well which are all good signs.you need not to worry,
I advise you to give her paracetamol for pain.and monitor her for 24 hours for any warning sign like vomiting.any altered behavior.any bleed from ear or nose.and in case you find any then take her to doctor.
Your daughter will be fine.
God bless,
if theres confusion altered behaviour seizures repeated projectile vomiting , then she requires a docotr to examine her. watch for these signs as they set in after about 6 hrs form the injury time.
