Child Has Black Spot On Eardrum. Has Sinus Congestion. Cause?

Hello, My 4 yr. old daughter has a black spot on her eardrum. I have a otoscop at home and I have always successfully been able to tell whether my children have had an ear infection or just fluid behind their ear drum. Today i looked at their ears, as they have been si k with sinus congestion. Could you please tell me what the possible causes of a black spot behind her ear drum could be. Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

The black spot on her ear drum may be due to some pigmentation or fungal infection called otomycosis.

Is she having any symptoms related to that particular ear?

She needs her ear examined by an ENT specialist to know the cause of black spot.

If it is fungal infection, antifungal ear drops will help to clear the spot.

Hence consult the specialist for examination and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
