Child Has Cold, Diarrhea, Blood In Stools, Green Mucus In Stools. No Pain

My 2 year old son recently had a cold and also about a day and a half of diarrhea . I noticed a little blood in the diarrhea, but he was also really tender on his rectum . Yesterday (about 3 days after the diarrhea) and today, I ve noticed a large amount of green mucus on his stools . I was thinking I would give it a couple of days and then call his doctor if it doesn t improve, but just wanted to get another opinion. He hasn t been in pain, even during the days when he had diarrhea. Is the mucus a result of his cold and diarrhea?

Hi

Greenish mucus with blood and diarrhea too is most likely due to an intestinal infection.
Since he had cold too, looks like viral.
But if he has fever, reduced appetite, abdominal pain etc its better to meet your doctor at the earliest as bacterial and parasitic causes of dysentery will have to be treated accordingly.

Hope my answer is helpful.
