Child Has Cough, Inflamed Ear, Respiratory Infection. Warm Ear Discharge. What Could It Be?

My nearly 2 year old daughter has had a bad cough for the last 5days. She s went off her food etc wants to sleep all the time had a fever and restless. I took her to get checked and got told she had a resipitory infection (sorry for bad spelling) and that her ear was inflamed inside. Was giving nothing. But today she has wax running out her ear and is still pretty warm. What could it be? Thanks

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
your daughter is having fever, cough, ear ache which are suggestive of respiratory tract infection.which is usually viral in origion.
otitis media is also common cause.
i suggest you to take her to pediatrician for evaluation.
In the meantime give her paracetamol, give plenty of fluids, warm water will be soothing for her.
your daughter will be fine.God bless

Hi
Your daughter having Upper respiratory tract infection with associated middle ear infection. As there is infection of middle ear the discharge may be due to rupture of tympanic membrane and discharge of pus through it. Antibiotic is required so consult your Pediatrician for the examination of the throat and ears ant the start of antibiotic medication.

helllo charlotte,

your baby is suffering from respiratory tract infection but infection spread upto ear and causing ear pain with wax or pus. you can use warm water drinking
use antibiotics cefpodoxime 50mg/5ml twice daily for 5 days with ibufpren plus paracetamol combination for inflammation and pain.
