Child Has Diarrhea And Runny Nose. Started Ragi And Ghee. Suggestions?

Does ragi cause cold in infants?i have noticed my 8 month has always blocked nose and running nose since i started ragi. i dont know whether it is her formula or is it ragi. yrsterday after giving ragi she had diahrroea. The day before i gave her rice with sweet potato and ghee. first time i am introducing ghee. so i want to know what may be the cause of her diarrhoea and running nose.

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Cold is usually caused by viral infections.

But id you find the child getting cold and diarrhea after giving ragi consistently, stop giving ragi and observe.

And don't introduce many new foods at a time as it is very difficult to find out which is causing the problems.

Introduce only one variety at a time and gradually increase it over 1 week to 10 days if there are no other problems.

Whenever child develops any problem after giving a new food, stop that food and get treated your child for those symptoms.

Maintain hydration by giving sips of oral rehydration fluids like Pedialyte.

Consult your Pediatrician for the treatment of his diarrhea and cold.
