Child Has Ear Pain, Cough And Cold, Been Prescribed With Ear Drops And Antibiotic. Tips To Handle The Situation?
Otogesic has been prescribed for my 2.5 year old kid for ear pain along with an antibiotic (monocef). She was already given two antibiotics for cough and cold . Today, she started crying holding her ears and doctor says its the effect of cold. I have not started the antibiotic, just putting the ear drops. Kindly give ur valuable advice as to how to handle the situation. Thank you.
What were the previous two antibiotics given to your kid? When were they given?
An ear pain in this age as your doctor opined could be due to the cold or a respiratory tract infection which could have spread to the ears.
Nevertheless, it is imperative that you consult your ENT so that an examination of the ear can be done. An antibiotic may not be required if there is no other signs of infection apart from the pain.
Also in spite of applying the drops you still have pain then stop the drops
Keep your child warm and do not clean or meddle ears. Also take only warm fluids
take care and get well soon
