Child Has Fever, Cough, Stomach And Back Pain. Given Tylenol
My son has been running a 104 fever on and off for three fays we ve been keeping medicine in him but it always comes back ...he s been coughing and complaint of stomach and back pain . He s ran these high fevers before android the hospital always gives h Tylenol and discharges him but I don t understand why he does this and if this time is any different than the last time.
After reading your post, it seems that your child is having viral fever but still he needs proper investigation and clinical examination for proper management.
He should be investigated for :-
1. Complete Blood Count
2. Urine examination
3. Liver Function Test
4. Malaria and Typhoid test
Tylenol contains acetaminophen and can be given for fever as adviced by his Paediatrician. You can give antihistaminic like cetrizine for cough after getting him examined by his doctor.
Other medicatons can be planned according to the reports of the investigations.
Viral fever usually get resolve by its own in 5-7 days and only symptomatic treatment should be given.
Maintain the hydration of the child. Give him fresh fruits and vegetables to increase his immunity.
Always ask him to wash his hands before eating. These will decrease his frequency of getting ill.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks..
