Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My daughter is 2.5 yrs old. She has fever and i have been giving her crocin and chericof syrup as prescribed by the doctor. Problem is that she refuses to take the medicine no matter how hard we try. Even if i feed her by insisting, she spits immediately. she also refuses to take any food. She has had half a glass of milk and thats it. Pls advice what to feed. Also i need to know the symptoms of dengue . Pls tell the symptoms to detect at the earliset.
Regarding the medicines, just divert her attention, measure it with the cap provided and transfer it to a spoon and give it. And you can have the food items she likes and offer it once she has swallowed the medicines.
Have her throat checked. If throat is infected , because of the pain children may refuse feeds.
When ever there is a fever, make sure she gets adequate fluids. water, milk, soups, fresh home made juices at room temperature. You may take her to places like park, allow her to play and feed her. Do not force feed.
Dengue is a mosquito borne disease, usually presenting with high grade fever, shivering, head ache, body ache, vomiting, abdominal pain etc. And complications happen when fever starts subsiding. Dengue NS1 antigen test helps in early diagnosis.
