Child Has Green And Semi-solid Stools. Suggestions?
hello doctor..this is ashwini..my son kabir is 7.5 months old and had green semi solid motions since 3 days. he feeds very frequently at night n seems quite restless especally at night...he had infection when he was 5 month old where the loose motion lasted for almost a month. i have started with solids 3 weeks back. kindly suggest how i can get rid of green motions.

Green colour in the stools can come from iron drops,iron contained in the ormula milk.
If watery and green''it can suggest infection.
In your child it is probably from weaning solids that you have started and not infection. So just wait and watch.all the best

Hello there,
Green stools per se is not a cause of alarm in babies as long as there are no associated symptoms like fever, lethargy or abdominal distension that might suggest infection.
Provided your baby has been gaining weight adequately and there has been no refusal of feeds, you need not worry.
The previous episode of loose motion may have no association with the current change in stool frequency at all.
