Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My seven year old son is suffering from hypersalivation since almost 2 months now. His mouth gets filled with saliva in less than a minute which he can not swallow and need to spit. Basically he is spitting saliva almost every minute or else he will hold it in his mouth for some time and then spit. The colour of saliva is transparent, no odour, no mucus . We showed him to a pediatric and a gastroentrologist pediatric and they say everything is fine and his spitting may have some psycological link and that we need to consult a child psycologist. He had similar problem around six months back accompnied with stomatch ache and the doc then advised econorm along with an antibiotic saying he has infection in large intestine . Though his present pediatric has not advised any medicine, can i still give him econorm? If yes, pls. advise the dosage.
Hi,
Saliva is a secretion of the salivary glands in the mouth. There is no need to spit it. Tell him to swallow it.
No need for econorm medicine. Some diseases like liver problem ,acid reflux in stomach, etc and also some drugs can cause this salivtion problem.
Hope his liver function tests are OK
For psychogenic cause, convince him that he is OK,give him confidence.
All the best
