Child Has Typhoid. Prescribed Azithral Tablets. Healing Time?
My son has been diagnosed with Typhiod on saturday. (27/04) He was adadvised and administered two Azithral (500) tablets on the that day itself at12.30 PM and other at 9.30PM, thereafter 1 tablet each day from 28/04 for 6days. On 29/04 his temperature (Farnenhite) was recorded as 98.5(7AM), 99.4(12Noon), 98.5 (5pm), and 98.4 (10PM). When he is expected to be fully cured?
Typhoid is an infection from bacteria and takes 10-14 days for full cure with antibiotic and supportive treatment.
Things to keep in mind:
1. Make sure he is able to take enough oral fluids and soft diet
2. Avoid any outside cooked foods
3. Take anti-fever medicines as and when needed (upto maximum 4 times a day).
4. Take adequate rest
5. If he gets severe pain in his tummy, vomiting a lot, fever doesn't settle - he needs to be reviewed by Pediatrician.
Once his symptoms are better, you can opt for getting him vaccinated against Typhoid.
