Child Has Visible Sediments In Urine, Dark Urine, Tired. Negative For UTI

2yr old-has been checked multiple times for UTI s but culture is negative, there are both white and red cell present, not sure of the other details. She has been having strange and different visible sediment for weeks now(tiny grainy particles, larger and or just different shaped red bits, yesterday some sort of mucusy looking stuff) her urine today was dark in colour and NOT transparent. She is irritable, not complaining much but says she is tired.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Presence of significant number of RBC, WBC in the urine is abnormal and the urine report should be interpreted by your Pediatrician.
Without correlating clinical findings and lab report it is very difficult to comment about the sediment in urine.
It may be due to presence of infection, presence of urate crystals.
So consult your Pediatrician for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query.

hello
Welcome!
I would be pleased to answer your posted query
basically for detectable sediments in urine we generally think of 4 differnt probable cause one of which is UTI which is negated by ur repeated investigations . others in the list are 1. albuminuria which can be due to a variety of illnesses in kidney from nephrotic syndrome and glomerulonephritis differnt types 2. pancreatic insufficiency that can lead to hyperglycemia 3.visible oxalates in urine .....so my advice to u is that get the urine checked via tests for microalbuminuria like albumin /creatinine ratio routine urine and dipstick tests for urine seek the advice of a qualified doctor to evaluate the possibilities and plan accordingly
