Child Has Vomiting, Dehydration. Taken Penicillin Shot. Now Has Jaw Pain. Cause?

My daughter was in the ER with vomiting and dehydration 2 days ago. They said she had strep throat and ear infection. They gave her a shot in her buttocks of penicillin. Now she is crying in great pain with her left side of her jaw. What could possibly be causing this and what should I give her or do? She is 14 yrs of age

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi dear

Welcome to the Platform of health Care Magic.

The severe pain in the jaw with vomiting all indicate the diagnosis of tonsillitis or peri tonsillar abscess as the ER doctor has earlier suspected.

ENT consultation is required to examine her locally and confirm the diagnosis.

Her symptoms will be alleviated by giving her some antiseptic gargles, analgesic-atininflammatory medicine and relevant antibiotic with proper dose and duration ( preferably throat swab culture should be done to know the exact bug.

Hope the query is answered

Thanks
