Child Has Vomiting, Tiredness, Fever, Sore Throat, Peeling And Puffy Lips. Cause?
Our 6 year old son vomited and came home from school tired on Thurs. (He had complained of upset belly and sore throat that morning.) Had a 101 degree fever . He threw up about about 2-3 more times that day and only stopped on Sat mid-day. Spent all of Fri and most Sat/Sun sleeping and resting. Felt pretty punkish and didn t want to talk much. One word answers or nodding/shaking head in response. He sucked on juice popscicles most of the weekend. Dark purple juice that made his lips the same color. Yesterday morning asked for a smoothie (had two) but no solid food until today. (Two spoonfuls of a split pea soup.) Still mostly laying down and tired. Seems to be getting better slowly and last night gave him a warm bath which he said felt good. Noticed in the tub the skin on his lips peeled off and the purple skin came away. Red underneath slightly darker than pink. Better this morning but again rested on the couch. Was gone at work all day and sitter said he was weak. Tonight noticed the purple is more widespread and the lips puffy. No SOB although slight cough developed last night and today. Has had some slight chills too the last two days. Still low grade fever especially late afternoon and before bed. Sleeping better last night especially and just dropped off. Breathing normal and this doesn t appear as cyanosis . More skin level than anything else.
