Child Have Alopecia. Had Shots And Applied Cream With No Help. Developed Rash On Neck And Cheeks. Suggest?
my 14 yo son has been told he has alopecia. went through shots in the head and cream applied daily treatment with no help. he now has developed a rash on neck and cheeks. raised, non itchy, even a noncircular ring or two with a white center. we are trying rogain for scalp. could rash be reaction to rogain? what could be other things to do to help with diagnosis/treatment
Hi the most common cause of alopecia in a child is fungal infectiontinea capitis.the rash on the neck and back is nothing but tinea corporis.use atarax syrup in the night.griseofulvin 10 mg /kg/wt for 6-8 weeks and a broad spectrum antibiotic twice daily and application of nizral ointment can cure it.avoid same comb by other siblings as it spreads others too.
