Child Have Viral Cough And Cold. Had An Operation Earlier. Have Been Taking Antibiotics And Zifi Syrup. Can Asthalin Or Budecot Be Given?
My baby is operated with Heart issues like PA Banding and Arc Repair and large VSD is still pending for next level operation. So he is having viral cough and cold. last week addmitted to hospital for this issue. They have given antibiotics for 5 days course and for 2 days they suggested me to give zifi syp. Today is 6th day of his course for cough. But even he is having some cough so can i give him Asthalin respules 2.5 ml or budecot respules 2ml once a day. Please help me for this issue because now here in mumbai rainy season just started and i dont want this issue continues for long time. Because of cough he is not able to take milk some time.

Thanks for the question. Its quite common for the children to have cough lasting for 7 to 10 days in viral infections. As your child had underwent cardiac surgery, its not advisable to use asthalin neb which might increase his heart rate further but if your treating doctor advises after checking your child's lungs, then follow his advice . Complete the course of antibiotic as advised and try to avoid nebulisation if mild cough.
