Long term use of Wysolone is definitely NOT recommended and you must visit a Chest Physician for a complete asthma evaluation. A visit to the Allergist will also help in delineating the allergies and making sure avoidance strategies are in place.
Asthalin or Levolin as required, Symbicort turbohaler and montelukast 4mg at night is recommended as initial treatment, Regular peak flow diary, asthma evaluation with questionnaire is recommended every 3 months for now.

Thanks for query. As per your history, your child was probably suffering from allergic asthma. Usually she should receive Budecort(200) metered dose inhaler via a face mask twice daily. Oral wysolone tablet for 7-10 days was recommended during acute exacerbation of asthma. As per your history, your garanddaughter has uncontrolled asthma as described by the presence of persistent cough, wheeze, nocturnal symptoms. Oral prednisolone in short term basis is beneficial as it reduces the severity of exacerbation, rate of hospital admission, decline of lung function. If it is taken on a long term basis it may lead to puffiness of face, bruising, osteoporosis, cataract,hirsutism glucose intolerance, hyperlipidemia,reduced peak growth velocity. I f your daughter requires oral steroid on a long term basis that means your granddaughter's asthma was uncontrolled.You require to consult a pulmonologist. Because there are several causes of uncontrolled asthma. I cannot opine on that without seeing the patient from a long distance. Hope, I answered your queries.
