Child Having Fever. On Tylenol, Mortin. Is Shakey, Chills, Sour Burps. Suggestions?
Hello. My 2 1/2 yrs old son has been running a fever for about 12 hours now, which ranges from 100.2 - 102.3. I have given him one dose of tylenol and a dose of motrin as directed by his dr. He is being well hydrated also. Along with this fever he is very shakey, has the chills, his feet are very cold and has a sour burp. What do u suggest I do for him?????
Child having fever, tylenol is good to bring down the fever but does not cure the underling condition.
Mortin is antibiotic and would be effective only if the cause of the fever is bacterial and if the bacteria is sensitive to mortin.
Other causes of fever could be parasitic such as malaria,, viral etc.
In my opinion, the child should have been examine first to identify any infectious focus if none found proceed to laboratory investigations including complete blood count, blood smear for malaria parasite if you live in malaria endemic area etc.
However, if the doctor did examine the child then proceed with the drugs as he directed.
