Child Having Fever, Advised Maftal P For Continuous Fever. Is This Medicine Safe?
hello doctor.my daughter is 3yrs and 910 months old,she was suffring from fever since last night.i gave her crocin ds twicw but fever doesn t came down,in the morning i have consulted a homeopatic doctor and gave her the medicine, he also suggested me if fever is not goind down with crocin it is not advisable to give crocin before 6 hrs better to give her maftal p.is this medicine ok in this case
Crocin contains Paracetamol and it is the safest antipyratic. It can be use even below one year of age, infact it is the only antipyratic which can be used in small children. Meftal p contains Mefenemic acid, it is a NSAID and it has a propensity to cause gastric problem including ulcer. Off course Meftal-p bring down temp. fast and to a lower level in comparison to paracetamol, but first choice is always paracetamol and tepid sponging. Meftal-p can be use only when paracetamol and sponging fails and temp is high.It should always be used with food and antacid.
