Child Having High Fever. Prescribed Meftal-P. At What Interval It Can Be Given?

Hi Doctor, My son ( 1 year and 11 month)is having a running temperature and i consulted a doctor and he suggested it is a viral infection and asked us to give p125 - 5 ml every six hours once and if it exceeds 102 temp then he suggested us to give meftal-p.I had given one dosage around 4:30 pm today and now agian the temperature is 102.2 can i give him meftal-p.what interval should we give meftal-p

Hi,
The duration of action for meftal P is 6-8hrs so you might need to give it every 6-8hrly.
The duration of action for paracetamol is 4-6hrs so give it 4-6hrly.Both the medicine are safe and hence can be repeated at frequent interval, once the fever subsides give as and when fever come i.e sos.
